Draft Collage

Picking pictures that fit my theme was more hard than I thought it would be. I had to include pictures that included both my military and normal life, which is hard because I hate taking pictures. I decided to go with a mixture of my family life, school life, and military life. The top left picture is the night my sister got engaged. The top right is me in Georgia helping with hurricane relief after hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico. The bottom left is me and a friend coming back from Kuwait last year. The middle is me tabling for my fraternity, and the bottom right is me during a chemical attack exercise. All of these pictures are of significant or fun moments in my life and I think the variety shows that being in the military doesn’t make you any different than anyone else. That is the main goal of my blog. You see these grand spectacles of the military on movies and television shows, but in reality, everyone I’ve ever met in my time in service has just been a normal everyday person. Its almost like being back in high school to be honest.
I have never used Photoshop or any editing software before, so I messed around for longer than I care to admit trying to piece together five simple photographs into a collage. I originally wanted to have a specific picture prominent but decided that since my blog was titles “Everyday lives of the military” that it would be better to have every picture be relatively the same size to help show that every aspect of my life is equal.  So, after playing with a few of the tools Photoshop offers and after figuring out how to resize the pictures and build frames into the canvas, my “masterpiece” was complete.

Everyday lives of the military

I chose “Everyday lives of the military” topic for my blog posts for this class. I think this will be a good topic for me to write about since I will be traveling to Germany in March for the month for my job in the National Guard and can write about my experiences.

I will be bringing my camera to record and take pictures of all the new sites I will be seeing. This will go well with unit one as I can show you all the side of the military you don’t normally see. Once I get it approved of course. Hopefully I can get some pictures of the planes taking off and everyone going about their day to day jobs to make sure the planes take off and land safely. It will be a unique experience for most of you and is really cool to watch if you have never seen anything like it before.

Unit four should go along well with my topic also. I get to see some awesome things at my job and will be able to share some of these things with you all. There are some funny things that happen as well and hopefully I can catch some of them on video. I will also be showing the city and some of the sites we go to and show what happens when you let loose some maintainers in a foreign country. I think it will be fun to write about and document some of these things that I normally take for granted and share it with an audience.

I think you all will enjoy this topic and it should be fun to share my life with you all. Hopefully over this semester I can show you some really cool things and you can learn more about the inner workings of the military.
